(credit for this photo goes to Polyvore)So instead of sitting in the middle of nowheresville for the next week, I will be happily walking down the streets of New York City. It's been a while, but I figured I would go to the MoMA, see the Gabriel Orozco exhibit and do some thrift shopping in SoHo. I'm also looking forward to my daily cappuccino from Le Pain Quotidien, drinking these superb drinks provide a realization that I'm in my favorite city in the world. Sounds like the best week that I will have in a while.
The only downside is, I'll be missing fashion week by one day. Today marks the end of the exquisite shows taking place at Bryant Park for the past week, but I will be sitting in the Alice + Olivia store next door, pretending that the Carolina Herrera and Max Azria shows are within walking distance. After looking at all of the photos from the shows, I must say that I absoulety loved the looks from the Marchesa collection. I'm always a sucker for the style of those dresses, if only they weren't thousands of dollars! Pictured above is one of my favorite Marchesa dresses from a couple seasons ago, the Pleated Organza Dress. The design and the color are perfect, and the way the pleats were put together were genius. I'm pretty sure that Anne Hathaway wore this dress for an event, and I envy her for being able to do so...
Still on fashion week, one of my favorite trends that I look forward to test-running is the girlie-chic military style. It's got this tough tom-boyish look to it, yet but adding ruffles it looks effortlessly cool. I've got this band-esuqe military jacket, that I surprisingly bought at American Eagle Outfitters. I was forced by my friends to go to the mall despite my phobia of mass production chain stores, and was pleasantly surprised when I found this grey-green coat peering from the corner. I've been planning my outfits around this jacket, and plan on bringing it with me to NYC tomorrow.
Wish me luck finding good finds at the myriad of thrift stores I plan on going to, and talk to you soon!
